Villa Sinfonia Foundation
First Quarter Newsletter
2010-2011
Welcome back to another year of music making. Enclosed in this newsletter are the start-of-the-year forms. Please take some time now to fill out the Student Information Form 1 and return it to us so that we have your current contact info and your child’s birth date.
Other equally important forms that we need you to complete and return to us:
Family Ensemble registration—choose your time slot and let us know what you will be playing and who will be playing;
Special Events—we need to take a headcount for these—if you don’t know what your plans will be, you can let us know later;
Zephyr Music Camp pre-enrollment—the earlier we know who will be attending, the earlier we can start planning groups and get music out to participants, plus you can secure your spot at camp now;
Archdiocese of San Francisco waiver and release form—mandatory requirement by the SF Archdiocese for all students participating in NDV concerts;
Group Fee contract for all students participating in Group Classes and Orchestra—it includes the payment plans for the tuition for these groups;
Parent Participation form—what would we do without the invaluable help from parents? Those of you who pitch in and help us set up the orchestra and tables and then help us take it all down at the end, and who help at the door, monitoring children, and helping with the Silent Auction are truly appreciated by the staff. We couldn’t operate efficiently without your help! Thank you—and please check your calendars for your availability this year.
We have ten senior soloists this year! That’s a record for VSF. You will notice that in addition to our Holiday, Spring and Tour Concerts, we have two extra concerts that will be performed by the Villa Chamber Orchestra and each concert will feature some of the Seniors.
The calendar will be handed out at the beginning of the school year and each quarter you will receive a newsletter with the current quarter calendar listed in it. You can also find it on our website: www.villasinfonia.org.
The 2011 VSF Tour is June 22-28. Over 100 people are already signed up for the tour—a record number for this point in tour planning. We will travel to Washington, D.C. and Williamsburg, with performances in our nation’s capital. Please find the payment schedule listed on page 4 of this newsletter and note these dates in your calendar.
Former student bound for Vienna. Violinist Patrick Galvin will be studying at the Prayner Konservatorium in Vienna, Austria working on his Masters in violin performance. He will be studying with Barbara Gorzynska. You can find Patrick at patrickjmgalvin@gmail.com or on Facebook. He would love to chat with VSF friends about his experiences. His address: Schwindgasse 9/7a, 1040, Wien Austria Europe.
Special congratulations to VSF Board member David Neuman and Adele Dorison on their upcoming September marriage. Best wishes to you both!
